Selous Walking Safari
To get as close to nature as possible, a walking safari or "fly-camp" in
the Selous is not to be missed. Escape the modern world completely and
immerse yourself in pure wilderness and get a taste of safari and
adventure the way it used to be done "old style". The most back to
basics, natural mode of transport, walking, has been greatly neglected
since the introduction of vehicles into Africa. Re live the experiences
of some of the worlds greatest explorers by going fly-camping and
spending one or two nights in some of Africa's most unspoilt wilderness
in the company of an armed qualified guide who will escort you through
this magic land on foot, explaining the smaller but no less important
details of nature often unseen from vehicles. A truly educational
experience and a sensory overload awaits you as you carefully trek
through the bush and get a sense of how our ancestors used to get about
, a feeling very few people in this day and age can achieve. Observe
some of Africa's legendary animals on foot without them being aware of
your presence, a feat impossible to achieve in a vehicle, and gain a
true understanding of the workings of animals and their relationship
with the environment and get a front row seat of an animals life from
their point of view.
Depart from the Selous Safari camp for a walking adventure and arrive at
a basic yet luxurious little camp site which will have already been set
up and prepared. Sleep in ensuite canvas tents under the starry sky and
enjoy hot "bucket" showers and good home cooked food around a fire as
the sun sets. A magical experience!
