Day
1: Arrival & drive to Volcanoes National Park
Our safari guide will welcome you at the airport and drive you to
Kigali, have a briefing about your safari. Leave for Parc National des
Volcanoes .The trip northwards takes you through the gorgeous terraced
hillsides that display a lot about Rwanda’s landscape, slowly climbing
to the bottom of the overwhelming Virunga volcanoes, at times with as
many as five peaks visible. Overnight at Luxury type: Virunga Lodge /

Day 2: Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes
National Park
Take breakfast and head for gorilla tracking in Parc National des
Volcans. Tracking the gorillas via the light mountain forest on the
slopes of the Virungas is a superb experience. In case you are lucky,
you are able to reach the gorillas, take an hour with them, and return
to the lodge in time for a belatedly lunch. Most of the gorilla families
however are more hard to pin down and tracking can take a full day,
particularly when it is wet and muddy. Overnight and dinner at your
lodge.
Day 3:
Golden Monkey Tracking in Rwanda
After an early breakfast, report at the ORTPN Office for registration
and briefing, thereafter drive to the Volcanoes National Park for the
Golden Monkeys trekking or Dianne Fossey grave trekking. The Golden
monkey is one of the rarest primates in Africa. It is now believed that
the only feasible population of these monkeys is left in the Virunga
Volcanoes National park. A lesser populace may exist in the Nyungwe
Forest National Park in Southern Rwanda but this has yet to be
confirmed. The golden monkey is a dissimilar species of guenon –
Cercopithecus Kandti and is prevalent to the Albertine Rift. Dinner and

Day 4: Rwanda Gorilla Tour to Dian
Fossey’s Grave
Wake up very early in the morning and go for a Dian Fossey trek. The
Dian fossey trek will take you to the graves of the late famous American
zoologist – Dianne Fossey who was murdered while on her research about
Gorillas and other primates in Park des Volcans. Volcanoes NP was the
base for the famous American naturalist who carried out her research
into the gorillas. She arrived in 1967 and established the Karisoke
Research Centre between Karisimbi and Visoke. Since then, she exhausted
nearly all her time in the park. She is extensively ascribed for saving
the gorillas from annihilation by conveying their predicament to the
attention of the international community. She was murdered by unknown
assailants at her home in 1985, a crime often attributed to the poachers
she had spent her life fighting against. Fossey’s dynamism research was
later revealed in the movie Gorillas in the Mist, marked after her
memoirs. She was buried in the volcanoes National park in a grave close
to her research center amongst the gorillas which became her life. Later
, transfer to Uganda ‘s Bwindi National Park or Mgahinga National Park .
You will have to clear with the border and then drive towards Kisoro .

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga
(Uganda)
Make your own choice to either go gorilla tracking once more in Mgahinga/
Bwindi , or hike a volcano, or take on a nature walk, or take a tour to
the golden monkeys’ territory in Mgahinga. Overnight and dinner at your
hotel.
Day 6:
Drive to Kigali City in Rwanda
Leave for Kigali in Rwanda and in case time allows, head for a trip to
the city as well as a tour to the market, pottery project, handicraft
shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial.
Travel to the airport (HB).
