The camping on the river is in a two man tent.
Clients sleep on role mats or on air beds. They are expected to bring there
own sleeping bags (available on hire). Toilets are wild toilets. Food is
cooked on an open fire grill and is there for mainly BBQ’s. Dinner is always
a 3 course meal. Starting with a soup, then a main meal if not BBQ chops or
stake or a chicken tika. The main meal is served with either salads or fresh
vegetables with rice or potatoes. Dessert is normal fresh fruit or cakes
with coffee or tea.
The Rivers
The Rivers are seasonal. However the Ewaso is a
lot more seasonal than the Athi. Therefore the Athi is a lot more reliable.
They are both extremely scenic rivers with there fair share of calm water.
If you wanted to extend the multi day rafting trip we can do so on both
rivers.
Seasons
To get the best rafting you want to do the trips
during or coming to the end of the rains. Note it normally rains in the late
afternoons and evenings so shouldn’t interfere with the other parts of the
safaris.
Athi River
Mid April to mid July and mid November to early
January
Ewaso River
End of April through End of June and November
through early January.
