Mountain Climbing Safaris - We
offer mountaineering trips to Mt. Kenya. This spectacular mountain is a
largely symmetrical volcanic cone the two main peaks to the mountain are
Batian 5,199m and Nelion 5, 188m, those are accessible to technical
mountaineers, whilst Lenana 4, 985m, is accessible to trekkers.
Mount Kenya National Park
Africa's second highest mountain is one of the continent's most popular
destinations for mountaineers and trekkers. Its two highest peaks, Batian
(17,058 ft./5,199 m.) and Nelion (17,023 ft./5,188 m.), require considerable
technical climbing skills. However, the third highest peak, Point Lenana
(16,355 ft./4,985 m.), can be reached by hikers who are in reasonably good
condition. The climb can be made in three days, the descent in one or two,
and the views from the top are as spectacular as you would expect. The most
scenic trek, the Chogoria route, takes 5 - 7 days. |

Kenya Hot Air Balloon rides in Maasai Mara
- This is a
fantastic way to witness sunrise, and also to spot the elusive game on
the savannahs of the Maasai Mara and Amboseli. Visitors can take an early
morning drift across the hill, and then back to the ground for a champaign
breakfast. As you first take to the skies on Kenya
balloon safaris, you might feel a bit anxious about the whole thing,
even nervous. Ah, but within just a few seconds of take-off, you
will be glad that you added this magical experience to your list of
things to do in Kenya . Sure, there are scores of rewarding ground
African safaris that you can choose from, but should you take to the
skies in a hot air balloon in Kenya, you’ll enjoy an entirely
different perspective that compliments a ground tour very well. If
you can do both a ground and balloon safari in Kenya, you will
simply get the best of both worlds. |

Cultural Safaris - These safaris
consist of hiking through indigenous peoples' areas and staying, observing
and participating in the daily lives of these people. In addition, you will
have talks on natural history, herbal medicine, culture, and flora and fauna
by the local experts in the area. You should experience these Educational
Safaris and see the Africa that we can show you. Kenya
Cultural Safari
Kenya has a culture born of countless sources. This region has been crossed
by the paths of a long and complex history. From the prehistoric records of
early man to the present day, Kenya has been a land of unending change,
contrasts and diversity. |

Camel Rides Safaris - This is a unique
way of exploring some of the spectacular geological features of the Rift
valley, which include a magnificent view, hot geysers and at times a million
flamingos to walk beside! What better ways are there of bird watching
than just toddling along "birding" while the camels bear the load!
Kenya Camel
Adventure Safari – Camel safaris are usually walking safaris assisted by
camels which carry your equipment and gear though sometimes it’s also
possible to ride the camels where the terrain permits. Camel safaris are
generally accompanied by Samburu tribesman and take place in the Laikipia
region and further north around Maralal. The emphasis is more on scenery and
culture than game viewing. On multi-day camel safaris, the walking/riding
takes place in the cooler morning hours reaching the next campsite (or
returning to camp) in time for lunch. |

Bike Treks Safaris - Our safaris are
traditional game drives in the many and varied Game Reserves with
informative nature walks, hikes, cycling trips. We often encounter
wild animals while on foot, we show you their spore as well as inform you of
the Maasai culture. . There is an element of danger in most things we do in
life and these walks are no exception. Now this is
Africa! A trip that has you on safari in Kenya, taking in the unbelievable
wildlife at Lake Nakuru and great culture of the Masai Mara. Combine this
with a 4-day trek through the Usumbara Mountains for a full picture of life
in Kenya and Tanzania. Kenya Bike TrekS - We offers adventure safaris on
mountain bikes or hiking through the wilds of Kenya with the comfort of
support vehicles and expertise of local guides. |

Horse Riding – This is
another activity which can be game or non-game viewing oriented and can be a
couple of hours up to weeks in duration. Short rides are available at
several lodges and camps and generally take place on private reserves and
game ranches. Longer riding safaris which involve game viewing are available
through a few outfitters in Kenya and are best suited for more experienced
riders who are comfortable with long hours in the saddle. Any time you are
riding in an area with the potential of encountering dangerous game, you
should be proficient enough to gallop out of trouble, if necessary. |

Kenya Adventure Safari
Holiday
If you want adventure in Kenya here it is!
Explore Kenya by bike, camel, raft, boat and foot.
Suggested Programme
Adventure awaits you! By participating in nature-based adventure activities,
we encourage students to enjoy natural areas. Rift Valley Adventure
programmes focus on the confidence building aspects of adventure learning,
while adding fun and athleticism to trips that are largely educational.
Day 1 To Nairobi
Day 2 Nairobi to Kigio Arriving in Nairobi you are met by a staff member of
Rift Valley Adventures and transferred to Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Your
journey takes you high onto the wall of The Great Rift Valley with
breathtaking views down into the craters of the dormant volcanoes Mt.
Longonot and Mt. Suswa. Your rooms have been prepared at the Kigio
Conservation Centre and you have time to relax and enjoy the sounds of the
wilderness before refreshments and a guided walk around the centre and Kigio
Wildlife Conservancy. The evening is free to settle in and recover from your
journey.
Day 3 Malewa River White Water Raft What better way to spend your first full
day in Kenya than roaring down the Malewa River rafting our way through
remote gorges. Wildlife abounds with three types of monkey to be seen,
bushbuck and waterbuck, impala and maybe the elusive leopard. Stopping for
lunch at a Kikuyu homestead we see how rural Kenyans in this region make a
living. Onwards we paddle through grade three rapids to our pickup point and
back to Kigio Wildlife Conservancy.
Day 4 Lake Nakuru National Park A day trip to nearby Nakuru National Park to
see some of Kenya’s incredible wildlife. Home to thousands of flamingoes,
and many species of wildlife, including lion, cheetah, leopard, rhino,
giraffe, baboons, the list is endless!
Day 5 Mountain Bike & Local School Visit Our goal is to reach Hells Gate
National Park. We start early morning cycling through the beautiful riverine
Cedar forest spotting game before stopping at a local School. Spending time
to interact with Kenyan students we are then on our way to Hells Gate via
the town of Naivasha with its colourful markets. Tonight we camp in the Park
watching the stars and listening to hyenas in the distance.
Day 6 Hells Gate National Park This park is one of only two parks in the
Kenya that you can walk or cycle through. The looming cliffs, birds of prey
and abundant wildlife provide an amazing backdrop as we cycle through
canyons and spectacular rock formations. For the adventurous there is a
chance to participate in rockclimbing and abseiling off the towering cliffs.
Day 7 Mt. Suswa Today we go inside a dormant volcano! Abseiling our way down
a collapse hole we begin the journey underground. Suswa has 16+ kilometres
of lava tubes to explore over three levels, the tube formations range in
diameter from 10 metres to the occasional crawl through. The diversity of
lava formations has to be seen to be believed. A magic day where we finish
off by camping in the wilderness of Mt. Suswa.
Day 8 The Coral Coast After an early rise to watch the wildlife cruise by,
we head to Nairobi for our flight to the coastal town of Mombasa. The
afternoon is spent relaxing at Pinewood Village on the secluded white beach
of Galu.
Day 9 Dolphin Dhow Amazing! Today we swim with dolphins in their coral
garden where we will snorkel and observe the prolific marine life. A
traditional lunch on board ensures maximum time for dolphin spotting. Island
exploring overlooking the dolphins playground and leisurely sailing provides
tranquil silence to listen out for dolphin whistles blowing off the sea.
Day 10 Mukurumuji Conservation Centre A one hour drive gives you the chance
to slow down a little and enjoy Mukurumuji nestled on the boundary of Shimba
Hills National Park. We observe elephants as they roam around the
conservation centre.
Day 11 Mombasa-Nairobi After breakfast and a last look at the views across
to the elephants, depart for Mombasa and your flight to Nairobi and then
onto the UK.
Day 12 Arrive Home.
Possible Extensions: Mt.Kenya trek, Northern Kenya Camel trek, Aberdare
Ranges, overnight rafting trips, overnight dhow sailing, sea kayaking. |
