Amboseli - Tsavo East - Tsavo West - Mombasa - Camping Safari
Day 1 –Nairobi - Amboseli
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive via Namanga on the Tanzania
border to reach Amboseli early in the afternoon. We view game as we
proceed towards the campsite for dinner and overnight. This small park
(at 392 sq km) is the second most popular park in Kenya after Masai
Mara, mainly due to the spectacular backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro on the
southern boundary.
Day 2 – Amboseli National park
Day spent exploring this park. The waters from melted snow drain down
the mountain under lava flows and surface on the Amboseli plains,
creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains. Here elephant,
buffalo, lion, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, jackal, warthogs, zebra and
the Maasai giraffe are likely to be seen.
Amboseli National park is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries
in Kenya. It is situated close to Kenya. It is situated close to Kenya-
Tanzania border, The Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the
highest mountain in Africa (5,896m) whose snow-capped summit presents a
splendid view on clear days. Amboseli National Park is often referred to
as “The home of Elephants’ some of the largest Elephant herds are found
here. The Game Park also contains vast groups of Zebras, Wildebeests,
Giraffes, Buffalos, Hippos and Antelopes. Also to be found in Amboseli
are lions, leopards, Cheetahs, Rhinos and many species of plain game.
Day 3 Amboseli – Tsavo West National park
After an early breakfast depart for Tsavo West National Park which lies
roughly half way between Nairobi and the Coast. Mzima Springs, the chief
marvel here is a favorite haunt of hippos and crocodiles. Picnic lunch
then proceed for an evening game drive to see large herds of elephants,
buffalo, common waterbuck, eland, rhino and a wide variety of antelope.
Dinner and overnight at a Campsite.
Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National park
We break the camp soon after breakfast and proceed to Tsavo East
National park. Game is viewed as we exit the park. This park was famed
for its large herds of elephant covered in red dust and fine scenery. We
visit the scenic Lugards Falls, Mudanda Rocks (attracts elephants in the
drier season) and Aruba Dam as we view game if time permits. Dinner and
overnight stay at a Campsite.
Day 5: Tsavo East National park
Full day spent exploring the park. Morning and afternoon game drives are
offered. Dinner and overnight stay at a campsite. The landscape in Tsavo
East is flatter and drier, despite having one of Kenya’s largest rivers
flowing through the middle. Much of the wildlife is concentrated on the
Galana River, which has plentiful crocs and hippos. Likewise, Kudus,
waterbucks and dik-diks are common along the river banks.

Amboseli Safari
Amboseli National Park is a very popular Kenya safari reserve because of
the stunning view it displays of nearby Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s
tallest freestanding mountain. When you go on your Amboseli Safari, be
sure to get the famous photograph of elephants with the unforgettable
views of Kilimanjaro in the background!
Streams from Kilimanjaro surface in the centre of Amboseli, creating
swamps that attract and support a rich diversity of wild animals and
birdlife.
As Amboseli is easily accessible, it forms a popular part of many of our
safari itineraries. Amboseli is one of the smaller game parks in Kenya
and the vegetation ensures that the animals are easy to spot. Lions can
easily be found and can occasionally be watched stalking their prey.
Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and other plains game are plentiful in
the park and hippos live in the open waters and swamp channels. The
elephants found here are surprisingly relaxed around safari vehicles;
they were largely unaffected by ivory poaching and have some of the
largest tusks.
Tsavo West National
Park
The Land of Lava, Man-eaters, Springs and much more...
Tsavo West National Park covers 7065 km2, approximately 30% of Kenya's
area under parks, and contains a diversity of habitats, wildlife and a
mountainous scenic landscape.
The park is a vast expanse of savanna stretching from Mtito Andei, along
the Mombasa-Nairobi road and south to the Tanzanian border. The North
Eastern boundary along the Highway adjoins Tsavo East National Park, but
Tsavo West has a more varied topography and a more diverse array of
habitats than its neighbour.
The park's habitats include open plains alternating with Savannah bush
and semi desert scrub, acacia woodlands; rocky ridges and outcrops and
more extensive ranges and isolated hills; belts of riverine vegetation;
palm thickets and on the Chyulu hills, mountain forest.
There are numerous rocky outcrops and ridges and part of the park,
towards the Chyulu Hills, is of recent volcanic origin with lava flows
and ash cones including the Shetani lava flow, an example of a recent
volacano.
In the far south western corner on the Kenya Tanzania border is Lake
Jipe, part of which is in the park. This very attractive lake is fed by
runoff from Mt. Kilimanjaro and the North Pare mountains.
At Mzima Springs, in the North of the park, water that has filtered
underground from the Chyulu Hills gushes from below a lava ridge into a
series of clear pools.
