Amboseli Safari
Amboseli National Park is a very popular Kenya safari reserve because of
the stunning view it displays of nearby Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s
tallest freestanding mountain. When you go on your Amboseli Safari, be
sure to get the famous photograph of elephants with the unforgettable
views of Kilimanjaro in the background!
Streams from Kilimanjaro surface in the centre of Amboseli, creating
swamps that attract and support a rich diversity of wild animals and
birdlife.
As Amboseli is easily accessible, it forms a popular part of many of our
safari itineraries. Amboseli is one of the smaller game parks in Kenya
and the vegetation ensures that the animals are easy to spot. Lions can
easily be found and can occasionally be watched stalking their prey.
Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and other plains game are plentiful in
the park and hippos live in the open waters and swamp channels. The
elephants found here are surprisingly relaxed around safari vehicles;
they were largely unaffected by ivory poaching and have some of the
largest tusks.
Amboseli Safari Tours
Beautiful Landscape Scenery in East Africa Amboseli Road Safari
A brief scenic tour of the region along the foothills of Kilimanjaro.
Another well-known national park in Kenya, Amboseli is famous for its
herds of elephants and for its views of Mount Kilimanjaro, across the
border in Tanzania. Amboseli's dusty plains are home to the African
black Rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and
hippo, which you can see on Kenya Amboseli Safari Tours.
Amboseli National Park is home to about 900 elephants. The mesmerizing
sight of elephants strolling through the grasslands with snowcapped
Mount Kilimanjaro in the background, attracts numerous tourists to this
scenic national park. Amboseli National Park spreads over 392 sq km and
its flat and dusty landscape with scant vegetation, makes it one of the
best places to view wildlife in Africa.
Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge
Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge offers an unparalleled safari experience.
The entire lodge is raised on high stilts above watering holes and
feeding pastures offering a spectacular view of the wildlife from above
and all around. The Lodge is situated in the midst of the Taita Hills
Sanctuary, a private wildlife conservancy of 28,000 acres at the foot of
the Taita Hills bordering Tsavo West National Park, one of the world's
largest game reserves. The Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge offers luxury
accommodation and facilities and is the perfect place in an
unforgettable setting to explore the natural environment around.
The Sanctuary provides a safe environment to over 50 species of mammals
and 300 species of birds within 28,000 acres of rolling savanna and
woodland habitats. Large numbers of wildlife come to drink at the
waterholes, so Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge provides a rare opportunity
to view animals at close proximity in their natural habitat. The lobby,
restaurant and terraced bar all provide excellent views and photographic
opportunities, while an underground tunnel and bunker with ground level
windows provides unbelievably close yet safe access to a variety of
wildlife as they drink. The waterholes are illuminated by powerful
floodlights as it gets dark, to make sure that you witness all the
activity throughout the night.
The Sanctuary is a success story in sustainable conservation where
wildlife - including elephant, lion, buffalo and giraffe - thrive. Game
drives are tightly controlled to ensure that animals are not harassed
and some areas are completely closed to vehicles. This commitment to
responsible ecotourism, which has been so well supported by visitors,
ensures that the Sanctuary and all its wildlife will continue to
prosper.
Tsavo West National
Park
The Land of Lava, Man-eaters, Springs and much more...
Tsavo West National Park covers 7065 km2, approximately 30% of Kenya's
area under parks, and contains a diversity of habitats, wildlife and a
mountainous scenic landscape.
The park is a vast expanse of savanna stretching from Mtito Andei, along
the Mombasa-Nairobi road and south to the Tanzanian border. The North
Eastern boundary along the Highway adjoins Tsavo East National Park, but
Tsavo West has a more varied topography and a more diverse array of
habitats than its neighbour.
The park's habitats include open plains alternating with Savannah bush
and semi desert scrub, acacia woodlands; rocky ridges and outcrops and
more extensive ranges and isolated hills; belts of riverine vegetation;
palm thickets and on the Chyulu hills, mountain forest.
There are numerous rocky outcrops and ridges and part of the park,
towards the Chyulu Hills, is of recent volcanic origin with lava flows
and ash cones including the Shetani lava flow, an example of a recent
volacano.
In the far south western corner on the Kenya Tanzania border is Lake
Jipe, part of which is in the park. This very attractive lake is fed by
runoff from Mt. Kilimanjaro and the North Pare mountains.
At Mzima Springs, in the North of the park, water that has filtered
underground from the Chyulu Hills gushes from below a lava ridge into a
series of clear pools.
